Sutton Way Development - 10th Mar 09
A new generation of energy efficient homes is transforming the Ings area of east Hull.
The Sutton Way development, built by Chevin Housing Association in partnership with Gateway and Hull City Council, comprises 59 homes ranging in size from two bedroom bungalows to four bedroom family homes.
All homes benefit from high insulation levels, 'A' rated energy efficient appliances and are built from sustainable timber.
Homes are available for sale, rent and shared ownership and are built to a high standard throughout. A typical three bedroom house benefits from a fully fitted kitchen with stainless steel appliances, en suite bathroom with shower, ground floor cloakroom with WC, French doors opening to the rear gardens, gas central heating, double glazing, allocated parking and private gardens.
All properties are built to eco homes standard 'very good'. This means the new homes benefit from a range of environmentally friendly features designed to cut fuel bills and reduce pollution including:
- High efficiency boiler with low carbon emissions
- Heavy insulation throughout the home
- Low energy lighting
- Sensored external security lighting
- Air tight testing to reduce the amount of energy that escapes
- Renewable timber
- Water butts in the gardens
- Dual flush toilets to reduce water usage
- Cycle storage to encourage people to cycle instead of using the car
This development is part of Gateway's multi million pound regeneration
programme across the city, to make Hull a place where people choose to live. The programme will see over £200 million invested in east Hull by the pathfinder and it partners over the next 10-15 years. Planning permission has been granted by Hull City Council for the next phase of the development which is due to start in early 2009.
