The UK economy has seen some diverse and challenging changes especially within the construction sector. The challenges faced by the complex nature of the industry made up of a diverse range of supply chain businesses offering various specialisms and expertise throughout the supply chain are constantly under pressure to adhere to market, policy and legislative changes.
For the employer it is becoming increasingly difficult to supporting apprenticeships which eventually will means these important skills are lost to the industry.
The host employer model that the Esteem consortium in partnership with Construction Works have devised for Hull will let main contractors and their supply chain employers share the responsibility for training apprentices.
Through this model key contractors can also evidence that they and their supply chain have met the 'qualifying the work force criteria' stipulated by public sector procurers and increase the chances of success at bid stage for the future bid opportunities.
